  • When is it time to replace windows?

    There a quite a few reasons to replace windows, so to give a specific time is tough. Many homeowners don’t even know how old their current windows are. For efficiency’s sake, old windows should be replaced when your budget allows for it. Otherwise, a cracked window or a broken seal that allows moisture in between two panes of glass is a powerful example of when it’s time to replace your windows.

  • How long are windows supposed to last?

    Windows do most certainly have a lifespan. They do not last forever. Even though many homes have windows that are original and have been in place for decades, a well-maintained window should have a lifespan between 15-25 years. 

  • What is the average cost to replace windows in a home?

    That really depends on the quality of the window and also the size of the window. Labor also plays a role in the cost of replacing windows. If you’re a DIY kinda person, windows run between $200 - $2000 per window. The cost of labor can run between $100 – 400 per window for installation. 

  • When is the best time of year to replace windows?

    In our climate here in the Bellingham area, mid-Spring is a great time to start replacing windows. The weather is warm enough that there are no cold drafts entering the home. By the time mid-September comes, the days are cooler and it’s not as ideal to replace them from that point on, in an occupied dwelling.

  • How long does it take to replace window?

    The length of time it takes to replace a window is around 1 day per window. The old window needs to be extracted, the new window inserted, all damage to the frame needs to be repaired and painted. Larger windows will take a bit more time.

  • Is it cheaper to replace windows in the winter?

    Research shows that because of the slow down in demand for window replacements during the winter season, installers and window manufacturers do lower their prices for products and labor to entice business when things are much slower. During the Spring and Summer, demand is at a premium and so is the cost for the products and labor.
